Journey to China Part 2

-->

Greetings!

This is part two.  Part one can be found at my website

I have been told that I may have little to no access to the Internet while I am away but the data I gathered doing research in preparation for my journey was so prolific that I decided to use it to create the following series. This, then, is a chronicle of the situations and events that led up to my going to China.  I hope to continue the sharing of my journey as best I can during my absence but if indeed I have no access to the Internet I will complete this series upon my return….

It is with the strong desire to increase and expand my healing abilities for myself and all sentient beings, that I undertake my 100-day China Pilgrimage.

Pilgrimage Part 2

In religion and spirituality, a pilgrimage is a long journey or search of great moral significance. Sometimes, it is a journey to a shrine of importance to a person’s beliefs and faith. Members of many major religions participate in pilgrimages. A person who makes such a journey is called a pilgrim.  Wikipedia

And so it is that this spiritual pilgrimage really begins with the story of how I came to “meet” Master Yu.

A number of years ago (2003?) I gave a dear friend a reading on her very ill husband. Though I don’t really remember the reading she says I “told” her to have a Vedic chart done on her husband to understand the energies surrounding his illness and how his healing could be best supported and gave her the name of a Vedic astrologer. When she went to him he suggested she take her husband to a Chinese healer visiting in the area and in desperation, she did. It was Master Yu. And yes, you guessed it; he healed him of the illness. A couple of years later (2006) Master Yu came back to the States and was offering some classes, so my friend and her husband decided to go and they asked me if I would like to join them. At first it appeared that the workshop would be on a weekend when I wasn’t teaching and I could attend but then – mysteriously – the dates and location changed and I was completely unable to attend. Disappointed, I resigned myself to the missed opportunity. But I decided that if he ever came back I would attend his classes and put that intention out to the Universe.

Fast forward to 2009 October….. My friend called me up to say that the Abbott of Master Yu’s Temple in LA was going to give a Medicine Buddha workshop at her home in Orange County and wondered if I could come. Medicine Buddha is a Buddhist practice for the healing and prevention of disease and I had attended a 5 day teaching given by the Dalai Lama years ago but had drifted from the daily practice and really wanted to begin it again. I checked my schedule and YAY! I wasn’t working that week-end! I could do it! Then I received an email from her changing the dates to another weekend – when I couldn’t make it. I sent her a message to her to that effect and she kindly asked the Abbott if he would be open to teaching in my area. He said he would but could only do it on a weekend 10 days away. I sent out emails to everyone I knew and scraped together the amount of people we needed to make the workshop a go and the first Medicine Buddha teaching in Sebastopol California happened. My next level of spiritual training had begun!
