Pilgrimage Part 3
The Medicine Buddha was (and continues to be) a life-changing and powerful teaching. Abbott Dan is a good and generous instructor and he talked a lot about his master – Master Yu. He told us that Master Yu is called the Dharma King in China and is acknowledged as having reached the highest level of enlightenment by all the Buddhist leaders there. And he passed out a picture of him to all of us. As I looked at the picture I thought that Master Yu looked rather solemn and intense but I also felt a kindness too. About a week later I talked to Abbott Dan on the phone about the possibility of coming up to teach again and when I hung up I felt this strange fluttering in my heart. I wasn’t alarmed but I definitely wondered what was going on (heart palpitations? Panic attack? …I never had one but heard they sometimes felt like that…) maybe I was working too hard (again). Anyway I breathed it away and went about my day and forgot all about it.
That night when I went to bed, the feeling in my heart came back only this time it was ever so much stronger and intense. So intense in fact that I began thrashing around on the bed in discomfort and now I was scared… What was this?!! A heart attack?! I’m too young!!! I eat well…. I take care of myself… Ok Ok I don’t exercise enough but…Then, I heard a voice saying “Joy, your heart chakra is opening JUST LET IT HAPPEN”… Oh…. My heart chakra is opening?… It’s NOT a heart attack? I can handle that … and then I relaxed and my heart chakra opened and I was suffused in a wash of energy and it was as if the clouds around my heart and my body parted and there, looking at me right in the eyes, was Master YU! OMG!!!! And he wanted me to know that he was really real and that he worked through Abbott Dan. I was blown away. As a psychic I had had many unusual and out there experiences but never one like this – never this!
And it was then that I knew … I had found my Master Teacher. I had found my craft to ford that river to the Island of Enlightenment.
