HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2019
YEAR OF THE YIN EARTH PIG
Traditionally, Chinese New Years day changes from year to year due to the fact that it always falls on the first day of the new moon during the first lunar month - it represents the Yin energy for the coming year. The animal sign of the coming year (the yang energy), is dependent on the position of the sun at the beginning of the spring season (called LiChun). Because of this, the New Year and the Animal sign of the year do not always start at the same time.
However, this year the energies of the both the Sun/Yang and the Moon/Yin change at the same time - a very rare and auspicious phenomenon! The year is off to a good start! The 2019 Yin Earth Pig year will start on February 4th at 5:14 pm PST and Chinese New Year Day, falls on February 5th.
In Chinese cosmology it is considered very auspicious to be born under the sign of the Pig. The attributes of the Pig are intelligent, prosperous, have an easy-going nature and great leadership skills. The Earth Pig adds to this the qualities of nurturing and generosity, kindness, openness and stability.
The year of the Earth Pig encourages us to work hard but to make sure to have time for rest and enjoyment in order to best maintain a balanced and grounded life. This is a good year to work on strengthening your digestion, lungs and liver, and to practice mediation daily to maintain physical and mental balance.
The weather of the year however, will be dramatic and ever changing. The intense cold weather being experienced in the US from the MidWest to the East Coast is a good example of the wild weather craziness of this year and will continue until April. We may also experience powerful wind storms this year.
2019 Year of the Earth Pig indicates a prosperous, communal and social time - look for people coming together for educational purposes as well as a resource for group prosperity(so long as greed is curtailed). This year is a great time to get together to enjoy good food and good times.
